Siam Data Mining Conference 2007
Siam data Mining Conference was carried out on April 26-28 in Minneapolis.
On this conference some interesting information related to data mining was submitted. The problems connected with new time series segmentation were discussed, as well as the ways to cope with the consensus-clustering problems. The review of applied methods and opportunities of Data Mining technology on the basis of package Statistica Data Miner is made. Paradigm Statistica Data Miner and interface appendices are presented also.
Many users, sincerely wishing to apply computer modelling in the practical activities, meet serious difficulties at development and use of modern software. Their source languages still demand knowledge, which is not concerning directly to modelling, and the carrying out of computing experiment remains laborious and formidable work. At the same time there are not too much typical problems of modelling, and it is possible to create for them the convenient and clear interface within the limits of one universal package.
Allocation of typical problems and creation of the convenient source language and tools of the analysis will expand a circle of users, and will simultaneously allows to formulate the requirements to the structure of universal package and to functional purpose of its blocks. As the analysis shows, prototypes of such blocks exist in all packages, and they duplicate each other in many respects, remaining thus completely incompatible and not interchangeable. The experience of many areas shows, that it is necessary to develop and use the standardized, compatible modules, and to create unique products on their basis.
The advantage of standardized blocks and coordinated interfaces is obviously at transition to "mass" manufacture of computer models. Offered classification of typical problems and attempt to analyse what of existing software are most adapted for the decision of each concrete type, also enable you to compare the various modern technologies of modelling.
Creation of universal package from the standard modules, focused on the user, which is not an expert in the field of programming and numerical modelling, will lead to the situation, when computer modelling will become valid tool of the science officer, engineer and teacher.
